Los cielos de Salta están habitados por más de 400 especies de aves, lo que la ubica en el primer lugar en el país de acuerdo a los datos obtenidos en el Big Day de observación de aves que comenzó el 8 de octubre y permitió un importante relevamiento realizado por pajareros en toda la provincia.
En tanto, el municipio que se encuentra primero en la tabla es Orán con 263 especies, seguido por Capital con 218 y Anta con 190 especies, en este municipio el Parque del Bicentenario fue, nuevamente declarado Sitio de Interés Destacado para la Observación de Aves ocupando el 4to lugar entre 243 sitios en Argentina.
Acerca de este reconocimiento, la Administradora de Parques Urbanos del Ministerio de Turismo y Deportes Eleonora Gallardo señaló: “El Parque del Bicentenario cuenta con equipos capacitados para promover en los visitantes el cuidado y preservación de la flora y la fauna, es una tarea cotidiana y, sin duda, el mensaje ha calado en los usuarios que de esta manera cuentan con un espacio adecuado para la práctica deportiva y para las actividades recreativas”.
Por el Parque del Bicentenario la responsable de Calidad y Gestión ambiental Emilse Arias participó de la actividad y se ubicó 18va en observación de especies entre los 100 eBirders del Departamento Capital, algunas de las aves fueron el Chajá común, la paloma bravía, la garceta nívea y la azul.
En tanto, Argentina, a nivel mundial registró 780 especies ocupando el 8vo puesto de aves registradas por país; asimismo, 694 eBirders hicieron que el país ocupara el 7mo lugar, a nivel mundial, en el número de participantes. Algunas de las aves observadas fueron: colibrí jaspeado, águila poma, minero pequeño y golondrina andina, entre otros.
El Día mundial de las aves fue iniciado por el Laboratorio de Ornitología de la Universidad de Cornell 2002, en tanto, en 2013 se estableció el portal eBird Argentina del cual participan más de 3.000 usuarios.
