Síndrome Urémico Hemolítico: Argentina tiene la tasa de incidencia más alta de todo el mundo
El 19 de agosto es el Día Nacional de Lucha contra el Síndrome Urémico Hemolítico (SUH). Durante la jornada, las instituciones de salud intensifican la información sobre esta enfermedad, que afecta principalmente a niños, adolescentes, ancianos y personas inmunodeprimidas, y las formas de prevenirla.
Con tal motivo, el Ministerio de Salud Pública recuerda que el SUH es la principal causa de insuficiencia renal aguda en lactantes y niños y la segunda de insuficiencia renal crónica en la población argentina. Además, ocasiona el 20% de los trasplantes de riñón en niños y adolescentes.
Se trata de una enfermedad grave, pero prevenible, que se transmite, principalmente, por alimentos contaminados por varias cepas de la bacteria escherichia coli, que produce una toxina que suele encontrarse en la materia fecal de animales y humanos.
Diversos factores favorecen la enfermedad, como la elaboración de alimentos sin el adecuado manejo, las actividades en el ámbito rural, la exposición al ganado, al ambiente y las aguas de recreación.
Se estima que, en la Argentina, por año, se producen alrededor de 5000 infecciones con escherichia coli y se diagnostican más de 400 casos de SUH. De estas infecciones, un 10% son niños menores de cinco años, los cuales están en alto riesgo por la afección aguda de los riñones y potencial necesidad de trasplante renal.
El Día Nacional de Lucha contra el Síndrome Urémico Hemolítico fue instituido en el año 2013, como homenaje al médico pediatra e investigador argentino Carlos Arturo Gianantonio, nacido el 19 de agosto de 1926 y fallecido en 1995, quien es reconocido como precursor en la lucha contra la enfermedad.
Alimentos contaminados
Los alimentos que pueden portar la bacteria son, la carne, las hortalizas crudas y los lácteos. También, otras preparaciones como arrollado de carne y salame.
Para evitar la contaminación a través de la carne, se la debe cocinar bien, hasta el punto en que desaparece el jugo rosado, sobre todo cuando se trata de carne picada.
Los vegetales y frutas a consumir crudos deben lavarse con agua segura. Se debe evitar consumir jugos y leche no pasteurizados, o productos elaborados con leche sin pasteurizar. También, es importante corroborar la fecha de vencimiento de los alimentos elaborados y verificar la integridad de los envases.
Se recomienda adquirir los productos de origen animal y vegetal en establecimientos que reúnan condiciones de higiene y habilitación; lavarse las manos con agua y jabón siempre y especialmente después de usar el baño, cambiar pañales, tocar animales, manipular carne y vegetales crudos, antes de cocinar y comer.
Se aconseja utilizar utensilios de cocina diferenciados, para carne cruda y carne cocida. Los alimentos crudos, en especial las carnes, no deben entrar en contacto con los cocidos. Se recomienda consumir agua potabilizada, conservar la cadena de frío de alimentos y evitar que los menores de cinco años consuman chacinados y carnes de animales faenados en forma casera. Al descongelar alimentos, hacerlo en la heladera o el horno, nunca a temperatura ambiente.
Síntomas de la enfermedad
El síndrome urémico hemolítico se manifiesta principalmente con diarrea, vómito y dolor abdominal. En casos más severos, puede manifestarse con fiebre, heces con sangre y fétidas, irritabilidad, debilidad y letargo, escasa orina, palidez, distensión abdominal, hematomas, hemorragias subcutáneas, convulsiones y piel amarillenta.
Ante la presencia de estos síntomas en menores de cinco años, se recomienda la consulta inmediata con un médico.

Tres hombres fueron demorados y cinco plantas de marihuana fueron secuestradas tras un operativo policial originado por una gresca en la vía pública.
En un operativo realizado por efectivos del Puesto Policial El Tunal, se procedió al secuestro de plantas de marihuana tras un patrullaje preventivo en la localidad. La intervención policial tuvo lugar luego de recibir una alerta por parte de transeúntes sobre una gresca ocurrida en la vía pública.
Durante el desarrollo de la intervención, tres hombres fueron demorados para su identificación, y tras realizar las correspondientes diligencias, los efectivos procedieron a registrar los domicilios de los involucrados. En esos allanamientos se encontraron cinco plantas de marihuana de distintas dimensiones, las cuales fueron incautadas.
El caso fue derivado a la Dirección General de Drogas Peligrosas, que intervino para continuar con las investigaciones pertinentes. Los involucrados fueron infraccionados por violación a la Ley Nacional 23.737, referente a la tenencia y comercialización de estupefacientes.
La Fiscalía Penal de Metán tomó intervención en el caso y ordenó las medidas procesales correspondientes para esclarecer los hechos y determinar la responsabilidad de los detenidos.

Niños aterrados y madres sin respuestas: denuncian golpizas en una escuela de Metán
Madres de alumnos de primer grado de la escuela Marco Avellaneda denunciaron reiterados hechos de violencia contra sus hijos por parte de estudiantes mayores. Aseguran que los niños son agredidos en los baños y que, pese a las actas presentadas, no reciben respuestas ni medidas concretas de protección por parte de las autoridades escolares.
Un grupo de madres de alumnos de primer grado de la Escuela Marco Avellaneda denunció públicamente una grave situación de violencia que estaría ocurriendo dentro del establecimiento escolar. Aseguran que sus hijos son víctimas de maltrato físico y psicológico por parte de alumnos mayores y que, pese a reiterados reclamos, aún no se tomaron medidas concretas por parte de la institución.
Según relataron, los hechos vienen repitiéndose desde hace al menos tres semanas. Los niños afectados, de apenas cinco y seis años, habrían sido agredidos dentro del baño escolar por alumnos de cursos superiores. Algunas de las agresiones señaladas incluyeron golpes, empujones y ataques con objetos como botellas y tazas. Una madre denunció que su hijo fue golpeado en la cara con una taza, otra indicó que su niño recibió un botellazo en el estómago, mientras que otros menores habrían sido mojados y golpeados reiteradamente.
“Mi hijo tiene pánico de venir a la escuela. Llora, grita, me pide que me quede con él en la puerta”, expresó una de las madres con visible angustia. Otras coincidieron en que los niños presentan un rechazo creciente a asistir al establecimiento y que, incluso, uno de ellos ya manifestó terror al ingresar. “Antes venía contento, pero desde que comenzaron estos episodios dice que no quiere ir más”, agregó otra mamá.
Ante la falta de respuestas institucionales, las familias decidieron visibilizar la situación a través de los medios de comunicación. “Hicimos varias actas, ya vamos por la cuarta. Pedimos que citen a los padres de los agresores, que pongan un adulto en el baño durante las clases. Pero lo único que hicieron fue cambiar el horario de recreo”, expresaron.
Las madres manifestaron sentirse desprotegidas por las autoridades escolares. Indicaron que sus denuncias no activaron protocolo alguno, y que en muchos casos no recibieron información oficial sobre lo ocurrido con sus hijos. “El viernes a mi hijo lo golpearon en el baño y recién el lunes pude hablar en dirección. Nadie me informó nada”, sostuvo una madre.
Además, las familias denunciaron que no conocen la identidad de los alumnos que estarían agrediendo a los más chicos y que tampoco fueron convocadas reuniones efectivas para abordar el problema. En algunos casos, los menores agredidos habrían reconocido a sus agresores, pero no se avanzó en citaciones ni sanciones. “Sentimos que minimizan la situación. Lo único que pedimos es que nuestros hijos estén seguros”, dijeron.
Una de las preocupaciones señaladas por las madres es que entre los alumnos de primer grado hay niños con condiciones especiales, como trastornos del espectro autista, y temen que puedan ser también víctimas de violencia.
Las familias exigieron al Ministerio de Educación que tome intervención directa. Aseguran que si la situación persiste sin respuestas, avanzarán con acciones legales y denuncias formales. “No podemos seguir enviando a nuestros hijos con miedo. Esta situación debe frenarse ahora”, concluyeron.
Hasta el momento, desde la dirección del establecimiento no hubo una respuesta pública sobre el reclamo. Las madres adelantaron que continuarán organizadas y no descartan nuevas medidas para visibilizar lo que consideran una situación insostenible.

El circuito de Metán fue calificado como internacional por un campeón de MTB
Manuel Hidalgo, uno de los organizadores del evento, destacó que los competidores, incluyendo campeones internacionales, calificaron el trazado como «internacional», lo que reafirma la importancia de la ciudad como un destino clave para el mountain bike en la región.
Con el cierre exitoso de la Primera Fecha del NOA UCI Clase 2, Metán se consolidó como un referente del mountain bike. El evento, realizado el fin de semana pasado, contó con más de 120 corredores y sorprendió no solo por su nivel de participación, sino también por la calidad de su circuito, que fue destacado por profesionales del MTB, incluidos campeones internacionales.
Manuel Hidalgo, uno de los organizadores del evento, destacó el arduo trabajo realizado por el equipo para poder llevar a cabo una competencia de tal envergadura. «A pesar de las inclemencias del tiempo y las lluvias que complicaron los preparativos, todo salió como esperábamos», comentó. Mencionó que, junto a su equipo, se dedicaron a mejorar constantemente el circuito, que incluyó ajustes y modificaciones para cumplir con los estándares más exigentes. «Recorrimos el circuito, lo probamos nosotros mismos y, si lo hacíamos bien, sabíamos que los corredores lo harían también», agregó.
Uno de los momentos más destacados fue cuando Catriel Soto, uno de los mejores corredores de Argentina y referente internacional en mountain bike, se refirió al trazado de Metán como «un circuito internacional». Soto, quien actualmente compite en Europa con un equipo de esa región y en las principales competencias internacionales, corrió en la categoría élite del evento. «El circuito es de nivel internacional. Van muy bien encaminados», destacó el campeón, quien, además de ser el número uno de Argentina, compite en las ligas más exigentes de Europa, corriendo para una marca de bicicletas de renombre.
Además de la destacada participación de Soto, el evento contó con la presencia de otros atletas de renombre, como la campeona mundial de defensa de Tucumán y el campeón mundial de máster, quienes brindaron un gran espectáculo durante la competencia. La calidad de los corredores y la organización del evento dejaron un saldo positivo en la comunidad del mountain bike, consolidando a Metán como un referente en la disciplina a nivel regional.
La colaboración de la Municipalidad de Metán, los bomberos, y las fuerzas de seguridad locales también fue fundamental para garantizar el éxito del evento. «La ciudad estuvo desbordada, los hoteles y las confiterías se vieron colapsados por la llegada de tantos competidores», destacó Hidalgo, agradeciendo el apoyo recibido de las autoridades locales.
Finalmente, expresó su satisfacción por lo logrado y mencionó que el objetivo ahora es consolidar este evento como una fecha clásica en el calendario del MTB. «Los corredores nos pidieron que sea un clásico todos los años. La dificultad del circuito y la experiencia vivida fueron tan buenas que ya quieren volver», afirmó, dejando claro que el futuro del mountain bike en Metán se perfila de manera prometedora.
La organización ya está enfocada en el próximo desafío: el «Desafío Serranías de Metán», que se perfila como otra gran cita para los aficionados a esta disciplina en la región.
